Hooter's Bay Area started off the 2009-2010 Winter pre-season with a win over the always tough Ice Pirates 6-2.

The new season comes with new additions to the team of Robert Sturm and Cullen Gillett and Rene Miranda.

Robert after taking off some time from the team when we were the Cougars decided he wanted to get back playing full time and as luck would have it, we had an open spot on the roster and gladly welcomed him back on the now Hooter's Bay Area team.

As for Cullen, this past Spring season he played for The Iceman who have now dissolved as a team and was their leading scorer with 23 points (14 goals, 9 assists). A strong skater and puck handler he has already shown he is ready to play by scoring 2 goals in the win against The Ice Pirates. Welcome aboard Cullen.

Rene comes to us as a sub via the Red Army team which also dissolved after this past Spring season. Rene is a triple threat due to him playing goalie, forward and defense. Glad to have you on the team Rene.

Now for some other news. Hooter's Centerman Randy Ayento suffered a groin injury after our game Sunday while playing as a sub for Total Chaos. Randy was on a breakaway up the far boards with a step on the defending SJ Blues player when he felt and heard a "POP" as he broke to break to the net and went directly to the ice. As of right now it is not known how bad the injury is, Randy will keep us informed on how the rest of his season looks.
